Mechanical Automata were created to imitate life. Mechanical birds, flutists, and rabbits filled clockmaker's showrooms as a way to show off their skill. This piece was an experiment to see if the imitation of death is easier to pull of than the imitation of life.
This mechanical bird lets out its last chirps as it sits on the cold pavement.
